Our history dates back to the foundation of the stud farm Marbach in 1573.
The recording of the Baden-Wurttemberg horses started officially in 1573 with the founding of a stud farm in Marbach, close to Stuttgart . In 1895 the Wurttemberg breed registry was established. The associations from the then independent state of Baden joined the registry gradually in 1896, 1897 and 1908.
Until January 1st, 1995 the Baden-Wurttemberg registry maintained three offices in Heidelberg, Stuttgart and Titisee-Neustadt in the heart of the Black Forest. The offices were then consolidated at the Stuttgart location. Since 2007 the office has been residing again in Marbach, a stone throw away from the state stud farm, where it all began in 1573.
