Introduction of the Baden-Wurttemberg breed registry

Who we are and what we do

The objective of the breed registry is the constant improvement of the horses that are bred in the federal state of Baden-Wurttemberg, and the preservation of the horse as a national treasure.

To achieve these goals the breed registry engages in a number of activities such as keeping the stud book, issuing breeding certificates, registering brood mares, branding stud horses and their offspings, as well as licensing stud stallions. In addition the breed registry organizes about 25 foal presentations each year in close cooperation with local associations, as well as 9 stud horse events to evaluate and categorize horses that are valuable to the breed.

The breed registry has a strong presence at equestrian exhibitions and sports events to promote the breed by inviting and informing the friends of the Baden-Wurttemberg horses. The Equitana in Essen, the German Masters in Stuttgart, the federal young horse championship in Warendorf, and even the 2010 World Equestrian Games in the USA are utilized as show cases to promote the breed.

The PR department of the breed registry is constantly working on improving the image of their horses to make them attractive to equestrians around the globe.
