Manolo G won the 3rd Southern German Stallion Approval under Saddle in Marbach

Cuby Calley was the best jumper

16 stallions were presented to the judges on Nov. 6th during the 3rd Southern German Stallion Licensing. The 3 to 5 year old stallions carried highly interesting bloodlines, and some of them had already been successfully shown. Four of the stallions were approved.

The winner is already well known: The 4 year old Manolo G was no. 1 at the state championship in Tubingen. Breeder and owner of this expressive bay by Metteur x Stan the Man xx is Helmut Günther from Stuttgart.

The best jumper was the 4 year old Cuby Calley by Contender x Exorbitant. Cuby Calley was bred by Casper von Ruhmohr, and was presented by Josef Weißhaupt of the Rittsteig stud farm in Passau.

The 2009 state champion of the 3 year old stallions Little Charly by Lord Loxley x Florestan I was also approved. Breeder and owner of this elegant stallion is Brigitte Kaiser from Willstätt.

Another one of the approved stallions was the 3 year old Lord London by Londonderry x Brentano II. This stately chestnut stallion had already won young horse dressage tests. Lord London was bred by Erhard Nordmann, and presented by Stefan Kurz. At the subsequent auction on Saturday the stallion sold to Switzerland for Euro 28,000.

Gala Night with Flair:

The gala on Friday night was the showcase of the 2009 breeding season and a first glimpse at the 2010 season. Three younger stallions received awards for producing far above average foals: Colorido by Casado (Haupt- und Landgestüt Marbach) and the two Sir Donnerhall sons Sirtaki (Gestüt Birkhof) und Sir Nymphenburg (Haupt- und Landgestüt Marbach) received the sash from Dieter Doll.

Two young stallions who will be standing at stud in Baden-Wurttemberg next year were introduced: The Hanovarian Stanton by Stalypso x Almox Prints was recently purchased by the Marbach stud farm. The Birkhof stud farm showed their latest addition Contano by Coriano x Heraldix xx, who was awarded premium status at the Holstein licensing.

The following breeders received awards: Josef Lutz, Karl and Renate Rapp, Eugen Schill, and Elke Wachter.

In a touching and emotional display the breed registry bode a last farewell to Susanne Mechlem, the former head of sales, who had passed away earlier this year.

The Alfred Schmelcher memorial prize for breeders whose horses are successful in the German young horse championship was awarded to Miriam Neher, who bred Lancelot FBW of the Kirchberg stud farm. He had a very successful eventing season, and his rider Michael Jung presented him in Marbach during the award ceremony.
